Bongani Mountain Lodge \ Accommodation in Malelane

The Bongani Mountain Lodge is beautifully located in the shadows of the Malelane Mountain range in the 8 000 hectares of the Mthetomusha Game Reserve, on the south western border of the Kruger National Park in South Africa. It is a low-risk malaria destination due to its altitude where guests have the unique opportunity to experience the Big Five including lion, leopard, rhino, elephant and buffalo.

Visitors to the Bongani Mountain Lodge are invited to walk the ancient paths once used by the San Bushman people of South Africa with over 250 San rock art sites, estimated to be 1 500 years old. This San bushman art site is to date the greatest concentration of rock art per square metre on earth.

Distance and Transportation

The Bongani Mountain Lodge can be reached within approximately four hours on good roads from Johannesburg. Daily scheduled flights to KMIA (Nelspruit) and a 35 minute road transfer is available on request. Departure time from the lodge to the Nelspruit airport is 2 hours before the scheduled flight and Skukuza 3 ½ hours.

Malaria

The Bongani Mountain Lodge is situated in a sub tropical area that contains a variety of mosquitoes that carry different strains of malaria. Although the Lodge is in a low risk area, it is recommended to consult the doctor, to ensure that all necessary precautions against malaria are timorously taken.
